The Man Behind Indonesia’s Rise

TIME magazine has this to say on President SBY’s reelection:

On July 8, voters on the more than 17,000 islands that make up the vast archipelago nation of Indonesia went to the polls to elect the country’s President. A final count has yet to be completed, but all signs suggest Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the incumbent candidate, notched a resounding victory. Since winning the country’s first competitive elections in 2004, the former general has been a cool steward of Indonesia’s young and often chaotic democracy, denting the country’s grim legacy of corruption, cracking down on radical Islamist groups and rebuilding a nation that suffered the brunt of 2005’s devastating Indian Ocean tsunami. SBY — Yudhoyono is widely referred to by his initials — is seen as a moderate and honest figure in a nation still emerging from decades of cronyism under the deceased military dictator Suharto. When his triumph is certified, he will become the first President to be re-elected in what is the world’s most populous Muslim democracy..

The Election Mystery

The election will be the next Wednesday (July 8, 2009). Indonesian people are expecting the next President. The three couples have been campaigning their vision. It will be intersting to see the winner.

The three competing couples are respectively :
1. Megawati Sukarno Putri (the former President) & Prabowo
2. Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (the incumbent President) & Dr. Boediono
3. H. M. Jusuf Kalla (the incumbent Vice President) & Wiranto

A number of surveys showed the second couple on the top. However, it is too early to conclude based on the results. Let the election result decides. It is still a mystery.

Whoever will be elected should concern about people will. The people do not care about national economic growth, they only want the government provide their vacancies. They do not concern about national revenue, they only know about their daily needs. Hence, it has to be added as a homework on how to balance the need of national image, economy and security with people needs.

Are the Good People Still There?

Please answer the question from the bottom of your heart. We can't deny what we did against corruption has impressed many countries. However, corruption is still there.

Could you believe that one day the corruption will reach the zero point? Don't we always say that the rightnesses will defeat the badnesses.

Only good people who have pure will can establish such circumstances. I believe it'll be going better because I believe the good Indonesian people are still there.

The Next President

Today, Indonesian people are wondering who the next president will be. The candidates have started to declare themselves to be elected. SBY, JK, Prabowo, Wiranto, Gus Dur, Mega and Rijal are some famous people be involved in such political party.

Do they really understand what people want?
Will they realize their promise when elected?

We can't deny that SBY has been governed very well. It will increase his popularity in the next election. Some surveys has represented that the majority of correspondents still believe that SBY will win the election.

However, some people argue that Indonesia needs the new figure. Mega and Gusdur are the former Indonesian Presidents.

Is this the chance for the new candidates?

We can argue, we'll see..

The Meaning of Independence

On 17th August, all Indonesian people celebrated the Independence day. It has been 63 years ago when Soekarno Hatta announced the country independence on 17th August 1945.

The time flows and decreases the real intention of the independence. Some indonesian people now do not understand the meaning of the independence because they are still suffering of the national crises in economy, energy and morality.

Nowadays, Indonesia is still dependent on other countries in economy, Indonesia still lack of energy and other foreign cultures have been starting to eliminate the Indonesian culture. Indonesian young people now are proud to act with foreign lifestyle.

When will we have the real independence?

In fact, China, India and Singapore have become the most attractive Asian countries for the world investors. That is because they can provide an atmosphere which is supporting the investment. Security and guaranteed protection are required to make the investors comfort.
